To egg or not to egg…

I love eggs, whether fried, scrambled, in a frittata or omelette. On Sunday morning, I had hard-boiled eggs for breakfast and I gave Zyla the yolk. She crumbled it up in her hand and threw it on the floor.
I wanted to give her the whole egg but the food allergy said to be in t
he whites made me put it in my mouth instead of hers. Some doctors recommend waiting until baby is 12 months to introduce egg whites, while others suggest waiting two years. I forget what Zyla’s pediatrician recommended.
At any rate, I’m sure there have been loads of things Zyla has eaten that have contained whole eggs. She isn’t allergic to anything thus far, so maybe I should stop writing and go give her an egg.

I have one child that only will eat yolks and one that will only eat the white. So they share their hard boiled eggs! No waste!
I don’t remember how young ours were before they had egg, but I know they were nowhere near two. In face, Markus has been eating egg since he moved onto solid food and he’s still not even 2! I’ve never heard the two-year-old issue. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I thought the only allergy worth waiting was the nut one.
Other than that they ate everything right off the bat…
Listen for thousands of years we have eaten things without doctor’s approval. I say let the kid eat!
I agree with the crowd, for what it’s worth. you can’t live your life anticipating a possible reaction to something that might be an issue for a small number of kids or you’ll either starve your child or go nuts. Unless there’s a family history of egg sensitivities, i’d just feed her the whole thing and watch for a reaction. My kids ate eggs along with oatmeal when they first moved to solid food and the only allergies any of them have is to medication—which IS a family issue.
